We're a contemporary art gallery in the Bay Area of California. The gallery is located in the historic Benicia Arsenal in Benicia, California. Built in 1878, our lofty spaces feature 18 foot ceilings, tall windows and fluted columns. Gallery programming includes an exhibition schedule of group and solo shows, art fairs and popups. In addition to our artist roster of emerging, mid-career and established artists, we offer art workshops in our adjoining space.

Jen Tough, Owner For over 20 years based primarily in Los Angeles, Jen worked as an Art Director for numerous highly recognized companies and people. She was the Art Director for Warner Bros Records, Urban Outfitters, Hollywood Records (Disney) and numerous national magazines. Her extensive freelance work included dozens of wide ranging creative projects for comedian Drew Carey, as well as being a creative consultant for Nike for years where she directed retail focused campaigns for new product launches. She has won numerous awards including being named "one to watch" for the 2000's for art direction by famed designer David Carson in Metropolis magazine. She has a BFA/honors in general fine arts from Ohio State University, attended The Art Academy of Cincinnati for fine art foundation, and Parsons School of Design program in West Africa where she studied textile arts and West African art history.

Todd Hemsley, Operations With 25 years experience working in the film industry as a Sr Visual Effects Artist, Todd is the "behind the scenes" gallery operations manager between his VFX gigs, and is currently creating a series of video workshops for the gallery that will be available in mid 2019. Todd has worked on over 20 feature films including Pirates of the Caribbean, Apocalypto and Transformers as well as 100+ commercials, most recently several years at Apple.
Karadan Clark, Assistant Gallery Director Karadan has a BFA in Studio Art with an emphasis in Painting, which she studied in both the US and in Florence, Italy. Karadan is a practicing artist, whose current body of work attempts to shed light on various normalized forms of male violence against women, from the erasure of women’s history to state-sanctioned violation of women’s bodily autonomy to femicide. In her work for the gallery as Assistant Gallery Director, she has professionally hung over 20 exhibitions, worked with over 100 exhibiting artists, and helps ensure every show the Jen Tough Gallery exhibits, regardless the location, runs smoothly. Karadan is immersed in the Benicia Arsenal’s artists’ community, where she has helped coordinate Benicia’s Open Studios, hung exhibitions in the local non-profit Art Gallery, and apprenticed under local artists.
Aidan Harley, Registrar Aidan attended Scripps College & University of California at Santa Cruz and graduated magna cum laude from UC Santa Cruz with a BA in Feminist Studies. Her degree focused on cultural expressions of male power and her thesis explored how historic & contemporary male-created representations of women in art & visual culture aides in normalizing male violence against women. She has contributed to several publications as a photographer, graphic designer, and editor. Aidan was Editor-in-Chief of one of the oldest women’s college newspapers in the country, which was written, edited, and run exclusively by women. As Registrar at the Jen Tough Gallery, she meticulously tracks the movement of all pieces of artwork that come into the gallery’s possession, and additionally ensures their welfare for the duration of the gallery’s possession.
Ridj Johnson, Outreach San Francisco native Ridj is an abstract painter and former technology specialist for Salesforce and HP among others. He has lived in Santa Monica, Mexico, NYC and now the Bay Area.
